About us.

Hey, we’re The Very Group. Home of Very.co.uk, Littlewoods.com, and a team of 3,500 super-talented people.

We’ve been reinventing shopping experiences for over a century. Technology has played a huge part in that, helping us transition from catalogues’ to pureplay online retail, but we’re not the finished article.

As the UK's largest integrated retail and financial services provider, we have a pretty unique position across three huge industries (retail, technology and credit) and our ambition is bold, to build the number one shopping destination for shoppers who value credit anywhere online. But we believe with our passion and track record for reinvention, we can improve how the world pays and shops for the things they love. Think you can help us? Read on...

About the team.

Our commercial teams source goods and services from some of the world’s largest companies, as well as smaller niche players. It makes for some really interesting work from forming the right sourcing team, establishing the The Very Group's requirements, identifying potential sources of supply, developing an appropriate sourcing strategy, initiating engagement with the market-place and managing the competitive engagement process through to negotiation and award of contract.

And it doesn’t end there because our commercial teams also manage the commercial and contractual complexities of the numerous solutions implemented by our suppliers across multiple business areas.

About the role.

We’re looking to add a Senior Procurement Manager to our team to take on the challenge of leveraging current supplier relationships and developing new ones for the UK’s largest digital retailer and integrated financial services provider.

Breaking the mould of traditional procurement, you’ll work with key stakeholders from across the business to ensure we find the right suppliers of the right services at the right quality on the best possible commercial terms. To ensure sustainability of relationships with our suppliers you will provide ongoing commercial support by managing resultant contracts and relationships.

You can expect to be responsible for the management of number of strategic sourcing and contract negotiation engagements at any one time. These will range from high value agreements with larger suppliers and smaller complex agreements with boutique suppliers, your days will be varied and challenging.

About you.

You get Procurement and you get Supplier Relationship Management and you will be experienced in a range of indirect categories, especially IT and will have experience in operating within various fulfilment functions supporting the total supply chain operation of a tier one retailer, logistics or manufacturing organisation. You may be an experienced procurement specialist or you may currently sit on the other side of the fence and have responsibility for the commercial relationship from a service provider perspective. Either way, you will be suitably qualified and able to demonstrate a solid grasp of the complexities involved in commercial agreements.

Articulate and a confident negotiator, you’re capable of communicating at board level and answering the question, ‘why is this a good deal?’ With excellent stakeholder skills, you can engage with technical audiences, wider business stakeholders and our legal team. An assertive contract manager, you will have the confidence to hold our suppliers to account on the rare occasions when performance falls short of agreed standards.

Experienced in the sourcing process and in negotiating large scale complex agreements in the operational services and tech spaces you will be comfortable managing traditional on-premise deals as well as negotiating “as a service” arrangements. In any case, you enjoy the challenge of the negotiation and ensuring we’re in the best commercial position possible whilst maintaining solid relationships with suppliers.
