The Digital Customer Experience (DCX) tribe is striving to create world-class end-to-end customer experiences across all touchpoints and brands. We are responsible for building this exciting future and are looking for like-minded individuals to help make this a reality. To help us achieve this, we need people with strong backgrounds web and app retail experiences to help us on this journey as we strive to define, design, build and run frictionless experiences that set The Very Group apart from other online retailers.

About the role

With a big ambition and millions of our loyal customers using the experiences we create every day; design plays a huge part in what we do at The Very Group (and rightly so!).

We are looking for an experienced UX Designer who can push boundaries, create great accessible experiences based on deep customer insight and disrupt the way we do things today.

  • You will help bring our digital strategy to life, contribute to our Design System and be the voice of all things Design in one of our product squads.
  • You will work in a collaborative hybrid environment, working closely with your cross-functional team of UX researchers, Product Managers, Engineers, Data Analysts, BAs, Testers and Delivery leads
  • You will be involved in the end-to-end designs for the squad initiatives, shaping the vision and influencing roadmaps for your product area and facilitating discovery sessions with both your squad and the wider business.
  • You will be responsible for overall design quality and outcomes within your area.
  • You will also be joining a collaborative team of highly motivated design and research professionals from diverse backgrounds, who use their deep understanding of our customers to create seamless, accessible (WCAG 2.1 AA), and intuitive experiences that maximise customer value across the full end-to-end experience.

Day to day

  • Partner with your product team and researcher on discovery that informs the squad vision, roadmaps, and priorities.
  • Ground everything you do in a deep understanding of user needs, motivations, behaviours, accessibility, and performance measures.
  • Collaborate with partners across the business to influence on UX best practices and ways of working.
  • Spot opportunities for growth within our design capability and work with the UX Manager and team to drive forward solutions.
  • For more experienced Designers, the opportunity to mentor and coach junior designers (including the opportunity of line management if aligned to career goals).

About you

  • At least 2 years of proven experience in UX design with a portfolio of work designing across platforms and devices
  • A data and insight-driven mindset that works collaboratively and openly with our UX Research team
  • Demonstrable experience of the techniques and artefacts needed to communicate and deliver an end-to-end product experience effectively (including personas, journey maps, wireframes, user flows, UI designs and prototypes etc)
  • Ability to facilitate workshops, design sprints and other collaborative sessions
  • Experience of working in a multivariate testing environment, getting work in front of customers so we can learn, iterate or pivot
  • Collaboration with researchers, data analysts, product managers and developers to bring products to life through storytelling
  • Experience in championing UX/UI design principles and driving the development and evolution of a design system
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a constant focus on accessibility and inclusive design

You can expect a 3-stage interview process for this position:

1st stage - An informal 20/30-minute video call with the hiring team to discuss your skills and relevant experience. This is a great opportunity to find out more about the role and to ask any questions you may have.

2nd Stage – A 40-minute formal interview where you can expect both competency and technical questions around your experience with the team. It will also be a chance to explore your portfolio.

3rd Stage - A 60-minute interview, including a short task.
