About the team
Our own brand Garment technologist team, work in a fast-paced environment and with suppliers across the Far East, Europe and the UK to source and develop great value trend led products for our customers. Reporting into the Senior Garment Technologist, you will work to ensure that our products are good quality, fit for purpose and safe to sell; whilst also maximizing speed to market, sales and profit and minimizing markdown through low returns.
About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Assistant Garment Technologist to join us. In the role you will focus on the following areas;
- Clothing product development from first fit to production – looking after multi clothing product categories you will work closely with an internal design team, buying, merchandising and your supply base to develop products.
- Build strong relationships with your trading teams, sourcing hub colleagues and suppliers to develop strategies for areas of improvement and to maximise success.
- Understanding of department critical path, supply base and trading calendar.
- Develop knowledge of all UK/EU legislation to ensure all new products comply.
- Develop knowledge and support as needed technologists and the global product compliance team in the management of supplier quality failures.
About you
We’re looking for a candidate who already has experience at this level and can bring with them the following skills and experience.
- You will have clothing product development experience from first fit through to production within fashion and be able to demonstrate an understanding of how to develop a product range with a consistent fit and quality and work closely with designers and suppliers.
- An understanding of grading and sizing regulations.
- Numerical and analytical skills in order to review returns data.
- An understanding of manufacturing faults and how to prevent going forward.
- Understanding of supply chain issues, for example: lead times/ flexibility/ supplier capability.
- You will be highly organised with great communication skills.
