I have an exciting role available for a Category Manager.

About the team.

The Category manager will work closely with the Heads of Category, other Category Managers, Category Marketing Managers, FSP's and Category Assistants to ensure the team is fully aligned across partner brands and working towards the category’s strategy.

Leading the team, you will keep Customers at the centre of our decision making and you will have responsibility for planning the right range, promotions, pricing strategy and making sure products are there when customers need it most.


About the role.

Alongside working with our biggest brands - you’ll enjoy significant breadth, with day to day responsibility for the key performance indicators, ongoing range development, stock position, supply chain management, development of trading plans, whilst being able to demonstrate the profitable deployment of marketing specific to the category with the support of robust DI.

Importantly, you’ll also be responsible for leading, supporting and helping develop a high performing team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Full end to end financial accountability of the departmental category, with daily responsibility for Sales, Margin, Stock, Cash, Returns and Supplier Contributions/Terms.
  • Required to develop and source a fit for purpose, compelling range which meets the demands of our customer, is aligned to market trends, insight and aligned to any divisional framework.
  • Responsible for the development and management of the category’s promotional & price proposition which drives the most profitable outcome, whilst also delivering headline sales growth expectations.
  • Responsible for supplier relationships including the on boarding of new partners that fill a specific need/gap for the category - whilst also getting the best out of our existing partners (be that improving commercial terms, or finding new, exciting ways to develop our proposition).
  • Demonstrate a continual curiosity to interpret data/insight, with the aim of driving P&L efficiencies/reduction in the cost base versus category return i.e. assortment optimisation, operational efficiency, minimising product returns.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Solution and delivery focused - a decision maker who can work under pressure, obsess over the customer, and make the right choices to benefit their experience.
  • Demonstrates strategic thinking & strong commercial acumen
  • Creative, passionate and innovative.
  • Positive, driven and brings energy to the role.
  • Ideally 3 years+ product lifecycle experience in a multiple retail/Multi Channel business with significant online presence – or experience that could be transferrable to our business and industry.
