Commercial Assistant

I have an exciting Commercial Assistant role working within Electrical and Toys, Gifts and Beauty. This role will involve working with category's that have gone through huge growth over the past few years. The role is now available due to a recent internal move and is open to both Internal and External applicants.

You will report into the Commercial Planner or Commercial Manager, working within a small commercial team in the respective categories. The role will involve intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Excel, creating reports and then presenting to the SMT.


About the role.

Day to day you will be supporting the Commercial Team with the delivery of the department ambitions and strategy, with a focus on improved efficiencies, maximising sales potential, obsessing about stock health and margin gain.

This role is highly dependent on cross functional working to drive data and insight, which supports the category teams in delivering the most profitable results for the overall department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with category teams to lead weekly forecasting based on current trade performance and key activity e.g. promotions, events, market.
  • Creation and maintenance of key reporting that gives insight into category performance that provides a framework to facilitate future projections
  • Support trading decisions driven by performance insight, scenario planning, promo planning & departmental forecasts
  • Provide analysis on promotional activity, covering performance variances and commercial insight
  • Support the commercial team in analysis and scenario planning to advise on potential outcome of in-season trade decisions
  • Assist Commercial Team with seasonal planning process, shaping budgets and assortment size, owning category and departmental roll ups & challenging teams on sales and stock phasing budgets

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Competency with commercial data and insight
  • Highly numerate with strong ability to interpret results and identify key drivers and trends
  • Experience in handling a variety of data sources
  • High attention to detail
  • Technical skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint to an intermediate/advanced level
    • Highly PC literate
  • Comfortable working on both short and long-term priorities
