Hey, we’re The Very Group. Home of Very.co.uk, Littlewoods.com, and a team of 3,500 super-talented people.

We’ve been reinventing shopping experiences for over a century. Technology has played a huge part in that, helping us transition from catalogues’ to pureplay online retail, but we’re not the finished article.

As the UK's largest integrated retail and financial services provider, we have a pretty unique position across three huge industries (retail, technology and credit) and our ambition is bold, to build the number one shopping destination for shoppers who value credit anywhere online. But we believe with our passion and track record for reinvention, we can improve how the world pays and shops for the things they love. Think you can help us? Read on...

The Very Group have embarked on an ambitious journey, to modernise our Data domain working with new cutting edge technology working within the Data Science and Engineering team.

Our Data Engineers work within squads working towards a backlog of work to grow and develop our Data Lake and Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) in the cloud. We’re also looking for someone to help automate processes and embed re-useable patterns removing the need to manually maintain solutions.

Today we are redesigning our data lake in AWS to allow our Data Science & Analytical teams access to explore and uncover new opportunities for our customers. In addition, we are building a new Data Warehouse capability in the cloud that will extract data from the data lake and can be used both internally for reporting and analysis but will also feed our website to enhance and inspire our customers to engage with us more often.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to coach and mentor more junior members of the team and take up an advisory role for problem solving.

Requirements

We really need someone who is confident in articulating the process from Data Ingestion, EDW, BI and analytical software.

It would be beneficial if you are used to working within a Dev Ops function that can balance development and provide 24x7 support.

A real interest in Cloud and maybe some experience in migrating from on-premise to cloud based technology. Then with that Cloud interest, someone who wants to learn more on cloud based principles such as cost and security.
