Data Governance Lead

Our Tech teams have recently gone through a transition to a new working model and culture, one structured around cross-functional teams we call squads. Our squads will make up an overall Tribe. Each tribe is responsible for designing, building, running and improving the technology that relates to their business area, all aimed at providing a world class experience for our customers.

About the role
This roles sit within our DNA (Data, iNsight, Action) Tribe, where you will be part of the central DataGovernance and Data Ops hub. You'll work the tribes to ensure that data governance is well thought out ensuring any new initiatives are thinking about datamanagement best practice and are aligning to datapolicies and within data regulations e.g. GDPR.
We are building an exciting new data catalogue tool that will bring a new way that Very will manage its data. We are also looking building out our data quality metrics across Very which you would be part of building and have influence on the rollout.
This role requires you to be highly engaging and collaborate in all stages of initiatives to prevent dataexposure working with DPO, Information Security aligning escalating any risks to the appropriate risk register. You are customer obsessed and ensure that the data lifecycle for a customer is managed appropriately.
You will help drive a new data catalogue across Very working across Data Ops to help tribes understand what data exists, where and view data lineage.
Regular interaction with data users, managers and senior stakeholders across the business to ensure a regular exchange of ideas and priorities regarding good Data Management, Data Quality and Governance
Network and collaborate with industry datagovernance professionals of other companies to ensure that The Very Group is aware of key industry trends and developments
Develop a risk-based programme of work for DataPrivacy and Governance as Workstream lead.
You will need to be able to manage expectations of senior leaders and be an excellent communicator that represents the Data Governance and Data Ops team.
We are fairly open on background. Obviously though, there are a few things that we'd need you to have experience in, in order to be successful in the role. These include:
- Strong Knowledge of regulations specifically around management of PII data
- Being able to influence people at all levels on the adherence of data best practice
- Excellent communicator.
Ideally we are looking for candidates with previous experience within Data Governance field, able to demonstrate strong understanding of GDPR, DPA 2018 and PECR legislation. This role will suit individuals looking to implement and challenge their skills and experience in a brand new, fast paced, ecommerce environment.
