Data Governance Specialist, Littlewoods Ireland

This is an exciting new opportunity to join the Risk & Compliance team that supports Littlewoods Ireland and the half a million customers that we are proud to serve. Reporting to the Head of Risk and Compliance, the purpose of this newly formed role is to provide The Very Group Ireland with the governance and oversight of data management to ensure that it is fully compliant with the Data Protection legislation and industry best practice and guidelines. Our unique business will give those passionate about data governance and protection exposure to consumer online retail, financial services and technology & data.

Responsibilities include:

Work with Company DPO, Group Data Governance Team and Group Data Protection Office to provide data protection assurance and localise Group policies and processes

  • Liaises with Company CRM Team to ensure continuing compliance with E-Privacy Regulations
  • Represents the Irish business in Group Data Governance project roadmap, ensuring that the Irish business is considered in all projects related to data management
  • Represents the Company in the day-to-day interactions with the Office of the Data Protection Commission on issue and complaint resolution
  • Conducts Data Protection Impact Assessments as required
  • Conducts audits and analysis of current data management processes and procedures and recommends improvements
  • Designs, develops and embeds data governance policy and process across the business that ensures compliance and best practice
  • Conducts complaint investigation and provides root cause analysis on data governance and recommended remedies to mitigate risk of reoccurrence
  • Manages a programme of continuous improvement
  • Creates awareness and education across the business on data management requirements including ensuring training needs are met
  • Ensures effective and compliant on-boarding and management of third parties to validate data management meets with Company standards
  • Formulates responses to any industry consultation

Requirements

  • Professional or educational qualification in a compliance or data protection-related field
  • Legal background is an advantage but not essential
  • At least 5 years of working in a data protection/data governance advisory role, ideally within a commercial context
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience of navigating data governance within a customer-facing environment
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to organise own time effectively, plan and prioritise and work to strict deadlines and targets
  • Highly competent user of MS Office tools
  • Enquiring and challenging mindset
  • Collaboration or business partnering skills/Stakeholder management skill
