About the team

We have embarked on an ambitious journey, to modernise our Data domain working with new pioneering technology working within the Data Science, Analytics, Strategy and Engineering team.

The Data Management Lead is a hybrid role work within the Data Excellence and Governance squad which is part of the Data Platforms department. Primarily the role is working towards a backlog of work to grow and develop our data catalogue platform as well as develop and deliver key data governance data discovery and reporting. The DML will act as the key contact and lead for all activities relating to the Data Catalogue. The Data Catalogue will be managed by Data Governance but will be rolled out across all tribes at TVG to allow tribes to have the ability to manage their data in accordance with regulation.

The Data Management Lead will need to collaborate effectively in cross-functional, agile squads but also with DPO, FS Risk, Audit, Legal and wider DNA teams. The DML will help gather requirements and understand impacts to business and technical processes around any data initiatives. They will also help with the input of key documentation in the data catalogue such as business glossary and policies.

About the role

The Data Management Lead will be accountable for delivering complete, well documented and well tested solutions for the Data Excellence and Governance Teams.

  • Lead the delivery of the data catalogue and any additional tasks assigned via a back log to successful completion.
  • Collaborate cross functionally on issue resolution seeking support from a Tech Data Steward when required.
  • Perform demo’s around data catalog and or data quality capabilities to the squad and to the wider tribes at TVG.
  • Develop and deliver a suite of Data Governance metrics and reporting as well as carrying out a series of data discovery to help assist with Data Governance deliverables
  • Manage the expectation of the Data Governance Manager and peers around progress on deliverables.
  • Form relationships & collaborate across the wider The Very Group community working cross functionally.
  • Ensure you understand and apply Data Governance principles and standards around deliverables.

What you need

  • Experience with one or more programming languages such as Java, Python or SQL.
  • Experience in data discovery and looking for improvements in data.
  • Takes the lead in resolving issues based analysing and diagnosing issues that could have an impact on wider teams and operational activities.
  • Very strong engagement and interpersonal skills required to interact in particular with senior leaders, wider teams that may have customer impacts including the ability to influence others in decision making.
  • Understanding of data lifecycle and understands data retention policies.
