About the team:

Our sustainability team are responsible for setting and delivering the businesses ESg strategy. This role will see you orchestrate the delivery and implementation of The Very Groups global sustainability strategy leading and developing a team of 2 direct reports and 12 indirect reports across 5 geographies.

We're a collaborative business and as such, you will work across all functions and departments to ensure sustainability is embedded throughout and everyone knows the role they play in achieving our ambitions. You will also enhance the company’s corporate reputation as our company representative on sustainability at external events and conferences.

About the role:

As a key senior manager, you will be responsible for owning and driving the delivery of The Very Group’s sustainability strategy, inspiring the business to reduce their social and environmental impacts whilst meeting the needs of customers, suppliers, and employees. You will ensure the effective implementation of responsible practice through our supply chains and with key partners, delivering improvements in sustainability performance.

This position requires the successful candidate to be able to influence the business, gaining consensus on priorities and projects, whilst taking colleagues up to board level on that journey of realisation. Adapting and developing the sustainability strategy in line with the changing external landscape will be crucial, ensuring we remain ahead of incoming legislation as well as pushing ahead of our competitors.

Working with the relevant business area owners to drive progress against sustainability goals and targets, you will also be accountable for handling global transparency, ensuring visibility of all tiers of our supply chain.

More responsibilities include:

  • Drive the businesses net zero ambition in line with science-based targets
  • Understand the needs of investors and analysts and proactively engage in conversations with these stakeholder groups on our sustainability agenda
  • Keeping up to date with the sustainability agenda, new legislation and best practice guidelines, understanding how they may affect the company and developing strategies to ensure we remain at the forefront!
  • Responsible for representing sustainability at exec and SMT updates, meetings with the United Nations and Government departments
  • Work with our communications and marketing teams to create and implement an ongoing communication and education strategy to raise awareness of and drive engagement in our sustainability priorities.
