About the Role.

As we look to reinvent our approach to embedding Tax within the business, there couldn’t be a more exciting time to be joining The Very Group Tax team. As a key leader you will be responsible for overall global indirect tax matters for The Very Group to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements while maximising tax efficiency of the group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic oversight of global Indirect tax ensuring appropriate governance
  • Ensuring overall global indirect tax compliance by using indirect tax technical expertise
  • Key liaison for appropriate tax audit and dispute resolution for indirect tax matters
  • Ensuring the accuracy of tax matters within the financial statements and forecasts
  • Partnering with and influencing key business stakeholders by providing effective, proactive and timely advice
  • Ensuring continual improvement with a focus on future proofing and digitisation

About you.

We are seeking a passionate, ambitious and down-to-earth individual who is looking for an environment where they will have the opportunity to accelerate their knowledge, skills and development within a high performing team.

We are also looking for the below skills & knowledge:

  • Tax and or accounting qualification (eg. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CTA) with 5+ years PQE
  • Extensive indirect tax knowledge of UK headed groups with global presence ideally in a listed environment (to include VAT, customs and statistical reporting expertise)
  • Strong VAT accounting skills
  • Strong technical ability to review new legislation and ascertain the potential impact of any changes on the Group.
  • A self-starter with the confidence to provide opinion and with the desire & charisma to influence and develop highly productive stakeholder relationships
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify emerging issues and trends from incomplete data
  • Able to challenge upwards and cross-functionally and welcomes being challenged
