About the role

We have a fantastic permanent role available for a Junior Print & Graphics Designer - across Childrenswear to work in either out London or Speke office within our Design team.  

We are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic and hardworking high level Junior Designer to join our Childrenswear Design Team. This role involves designing across categories for Very’s own brand ‘V by Very’. Across Baby, Toddler and Older boys and Girlswear. This would be across multi categories: Wovens, Jersey, Swim, Nightwear and Outerwear. 

This is a perfect opportunity for a designer with passion and interest in Childrenswear design. If you are looking for the next step or a Junior looking for a new challenge, then this would be the perfect role!  

Must have previous experience withing a Childrenswear brand ideally already at a Junior level. Only very established assistants will be considered. Also need to have experience working in a fast-paced environment and to be able to react quickly to oncoming trends. 

For this role you will need an in-depth knowledge of Graphics and print design and proven track record of developing commercial designs. Be able to identity new and emerging trends, whilst working alongside fellow designers for seasonal research and trend direction. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • A strong commercial handwriting, Strong communication and time management skills 
  • Travel to meetings, shopping trips and trade fairs - with the ability to translate initial ideas and concepts into commercial designs. 
  • Working closely with Buying teams to create a cohesive and saleable collection. 
  • Working closely with the technical team on technical requirements for print / graphics 
  • Working with the supply base and building strong relationship with suppliers/ Some Experience working with both Near East and Far East suppliers. 
  • Researching for directional and comparative trend, comp shops and product direction for print and graphics. 
  • Reacting to sales information and designing commercially relevant, fashionforward prints with our customer in mind. 
  • Self-motivation & enthusiasm. Someone who is a good team player. 
  • The ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and appropriately with colleagues, suppliers, and others at all levels.

You can expect a two-stage interview process for this position:

1st stage - An informal 30-minute video call with the hiring team to discuss your skills and relevant experience. This is a great opportunity to find out more about the role and to ask any questions you may have.

2nd Stage – A one-hour formal interview where you can expect both competency and technical questions. This can be held either in-person or remotely.

3rd stage: project based : you will be set a project within a 1 to 2 week period and then will have an in person interview to go over your project and talk in more detail.
