People Manager (14 Month Maternity Cover)
- The People Manager works in partnership with the leadership team to achieve their strategic goals by helping them to build people capability and raise the performance of their teams.
- The People Partner acts as a consultant to the leadership team and uses their HR expertise to diagnose business challenges and in conjunction with the wider People team, creates seamless people solutions that add value and minimise risk.
- The role is key to implementing group-wide People initiatives, influencing leaders, improving colleague engagement and experience, and supporting the management of change.
- This role will also have oversight for Health & Safety and the effective running of the Office environment, with one direct report, Office Manager.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Leadership:
- This role may have supervisory responsibility for people, and they may also lead cross-functional project teams or squads for a specified purpose.
- They will also regularly provide support, supervision and mentoring to other People Team members assigned to their projects or initiatives.
- High degree of self-leadership, working autonomously and independently, subject to provision of results.
- Key influencer across the Directors and leadership team, leading and motivating leaders on areas of people and culture that will directly and indirectly impact on delivery of strategic and operational priorities.
Nature and Area of impact:
- Partners with large function or multiple sub-function client group within the business with medium-high complexity and change agendas
- Provides consultancy, diagnostic and advisory services to the client group that directly impacts on the execution and performance of strategic business goals, culture and cost.
- May also have an impact on the functions’ performance of regulatory obligations.
Budget/Financial:
- Has direct budgetary responsibility for People budget up to €100k for SDI.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops deep insight and understanding of the client group’s purpose, strategic goals and objectives and uses this insight to shape an effective annual people plan within the defined parameters of overall Group People Strategy.
- Provides people data and insight to the client group leadership that diagnoses strengths, opportunities, risks or threats from people perspective.
- Uses data driven insight to guide the development of people priorities and uses data to produce evidence-based business case for change to people priorities.
- Provides insight and advocates for the client group, and inputs client group perspective on the development of people solutions and initiatives at Group People Community level.
- Collaborates with other areas of the People Team to develop specific people solutions and initiatives that meet the client group strategy and its people priorities.
- Develops local People approach and solutions, where appropriate to the client group, into account local legislative requirements.
- Influences, supports and enables client group leadership teams in the operationalisation of key people practices such as reward cycle, workforce planning, talent & succession management, capability development, learning, performance management cycle and engagement & well-being activity in a way that builds culture, capability and raises performance of those teams.
- Guides on local colleague experience for SDI colleagues through strong and clear purpose and values via work environment; robust communication; recognition; well-being; diversity & inclusion; and colleague participation e.g. CSR Squad, People Labs’.
- Ensures Shop Direct Ireland is fully compliant in all aspects of the employment relationship by continuously monitoring the external environment for legal and regulatory changes and making any changes necessary to policy or process.
- Ensures first line compliance for all people aspects of an FS regulated business including participation in regular monitoring, thematic reviews and continuous improvement of risk mitigation, good controls and accountability.
- Enables the client group leadership team to deliver organisational change at pace and scale by providing change expertise from both a cultural and ER perspective.
- Develops strong collaboration networks and relationships that enable greater influencing of people- centric actions and outcomes across the client group.
- Coaches’ business leaders and managers to develop the knowledge, skill and capabilities they need to deploy effective people practices and develop an inclusive culture that is purpose and values-led.
- Leads and manages emergent complex employee relations cases to a satisfactory conclusion.
- Supports and leads on wider Group People initiatives on an ad-hoc basis
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Educational and/or professional People or related qualification
- Passionate about people and making a positive difference to colleagues working lives
- Excellent in-depth knowledge and understanding of HR practices and employment law in local market.
- Commercial acumen and understanding of the operational levers which drive success in the organisation.
- Strong evidence of capability to build strong working relationships, collaboration skills and act as trusted advisor to senior stakeholders.
- Organisational diagnosis skills i.e. able to see what organisation, people or behavioural changes are needed to raise business area performance.
- Knowledge and experience of facilitating change successfully in a commercial environment.
- Solid working knowledge of local employment law
