About the role

As a Solutions Architect you will be responsible for the future vision and architecture of the BI & Analytics data tools and focus on developing our future Power BI roadmap. You will help drive further value from our enterprise Microsoft Power BI platform and ensure we are using our tooling estate to its full capacity.

You will support group wide data professionals across multiple business areas in effective use of the BI tooling to drive the self-serve BI and Analytics capability. Be an enabler for insight and action to be driven from our BI Platform across the data team and the wider business. Liaise and collaborate effectively with senior business stakeholders to deliver valuable business outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for defining the technical vision, strategy, and roadmap of self-serve BI tooling.
  • Needs to be aware of other analytical tools within the business such as Google Analytics, Excel, etc. and how they fit in the wider ecosystem.
  • Ensure that Data Mart/Cube/Warehouse is built in accordance with the Standards and Polices defined from Data Platforms.
  • Platform Support and Implementation: Must be able to work as part of a team to support, document, maintain and extend the functionality of the groups self-serve analytical tools
  • Work with business stakeholders: Able to work with multiple teams across the tribe and wider business community on how we continue to drive positive adoption of our Self-Serve BI & Analytics tools.
  • Proactively identify and act on opportunities to improve analytical tools and processes.
  • Lead and document system and procedure changes to our Self-Serve tooling operating model
  • Recommend and implement Power BI best practices – technically and operationally.
  • Stay ahead of changes externally within the domain and translate into internal technical roadmap

What you’ll bring

Skills required

  • Have a passion for delivering transformational data products.
  • Excellent critical thinking, verbal, and written communications skills, with solid experience in communicating with both senior management levels within the organisation and with third parties directly
  • To perform this position successfully, the individual should be a self-starter and able to complete projects with little direction.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies, applications and processes and adapt to fast paced digital domain
  • Be confident in dealing with ambiguity and able to adapt to change. Resilient and comfortable making difficult decisions around contending priorities
  • Ability to motivate and inspire others through clear vision and strategy
  • Good grounding in agile software change practices, ideally in a data function.
  • Relentlessly focussed on improvement of the team, processes, and oneself.

Technical skill set:

  • Experience of defining and implementing Power BI architecture and deployment models for a range of use cases
  • Knowledge of defining and configuring the security model within Power BI deployments
  • Solid understanding of MS Power BI end to end service and features within large enterprise implantations
  • Hands-on working experience with Power BI to author queries, datasets, visuals & reports
  • Proficient in writing SQL to interrogate data quality issues
  • Knowledgeable of the changing digital domain
  • Use of delivery management tools such as Confluence, Jira.
