The Opportunity.

The role of the Category Marketing team is to design compelling customer-centric, cross-category propositions that define part of the annual marketing strategies and quarterly marketing plans. Operating in a matrix structure, as part of the Marketing team and working closely with the Category teams, this team shapes the way in how we engage our customers, bring our propositions to life and, ultimately, deliver against our customer and commercial targets.

Key responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining knowledge of market opportunities, future trends and customer insights to develop engaging cross-category propositions that ensure we attract and engage customers and sell across our offer to achieve our commercial targets.
  • Responsible for designing high-performing customer propositions and marketing strategies; defining the target audience, identifying key customer moments within the calendar, influencing the shape of media investment and channel mix and leading the team in flawless execution to achieve commercial and customer success.
  • Alongside Category teams, you will be responsible for leading new brand launches and contribute to longer term partner brand strategies, using performance insights and optimisation plans to realise opportunities to drive growth.
  • Lead in the execution of new strategies and campaigns, bringing together colleagues across Brand, Performance Marketing, Creative, Trade Marketing and Threefold to craft integrated and creative campaign solutions. At times working with our Customer, DCX and FS teams to develop longer term strategies and initiatives or external suppliers.
  • Work with Marketing and Category colleagues to deliver category priorities including contributing to Quarterly Reviews and new brand engagement.

About you.

  • Bringing a breadth of marketing experience to the team, across acquisition, engagement and brand, with the flexibility to pivot between strategic thinking through to campaign.
  • Analytical problem solver, capable of interpreting insights from a range of sources including channel performance, customer and marketplace research, with experience in combining these insights with creative thinking to design compelling customer propositions.
  • Ability to commission research and oversee the an annual plan for data and insights.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and confident communicator, with energy to foster collaborative working, galvanizing colleagues to deliver ambitious category marketing plans.
  • Ability to balance commercial and customer needs, understanding how best in class customer experience and marketing can be harnessed to deliver commercial results. Being commercially astute and ensuring that KPIs are met through strategic plans.
  • Creative problem solver and self-starter who is comfortable with a degree of ambiguity and embraces the opportunity to pioneer new ways of working both internally and with brands.
