Senior QA Engineer (Data)

About the role
These roles sit within our DNA (Data, iNsight, Action) Tribe, so are a little bit different to other QA roles out there. You'll work with the squad to ensure that the infrastructure, software and data stores created and modified are to the quality standards our customers, colleagues and shareholders expect.
You'll be exploring, developing and executing exploratory and automated tests to assess quality and risk.
You will be collaborating and engaging in conversations at every stage of the software development process to drive defect prevention, whilst working with all squad members to ensure quality throughout the product lifecycle using modern software development and monitoring techniques.
To be a QA Engineer here, we need someone who can own the test approach for each story delivered. You'll be used to having discussions and more often than not take ownership around Unit, Functional, performance, and security.
Our approach is ‘automation first’ to all stories, using discussion, debate and risk to find the right balance between automated and exploratory testing. We'll expect you to be well versed in Automation.
We'll need your help and support across each person in the squad to to help them think quality and test at the right time!
From a future proof point of view, you'll work with the QA Lead to be aware of software industry developments and continually review testing processes and strategies to ensure that the squad remain current.
We know a person is much more than just a technical skill set. We are fairly open on background. Obviously though, there are a few things that we'd need you to have experience in, in order to be successful in the role. These include:
- Strong Knowledge of modern software testing methodologies, tools and processes
- Being able to influence teams in their approach to QA
- Experience of BDD
With the role sitting within Data, experience with some of the below would be hugely advantageous (don't worry, we don't expect you to have experience of all of these):
