As a software engineer you’re the technical driving force within the delivery space. You will recognise and challenge the art of the possible from a technology perspective and you will strive to deliver the absolute best outcomes for customers, whilst ensuring stable secure systems are underpinning the continued success of the business. Being part of a likeminded group to deliver incredible things you will be encouraged to learn, share, and develop not only yourself, but all those around you.
At the outset you will use your knowledge of modern technology and adaptations thereof to support the needs of the business and customer. You will have a quality first mindset when it comes to taking pride and ownership in your product and the team around you, and efficiency and value will become synonymous with you as an engineer.
You’ll use the learnings taken from other projects and teams to ensure what you engineer will be of an extremely high standard, and you will share experiences with other team members to provide clarity around approach within a community of passionate engineers and product delivery teams.
You’ll invest time in yourself and your team to build a set of skills that will enhance our delivery capability and ensure we excel in delighting our customer. We want you to be a master of you craft!
You’ll share your passion for all things technology, engineering, and ultimately Very Group products with the wider communities and should become an advocate and ambassador for your work, your team, and the business.
What do we look for?
We value people who can demonstrate a passion and curiosity around technology allied to a good understanding of modern software engineering methods, tools and processes.
We look for people who have great interpersonal skills, love working collaboratively, take ownership of the conversation on quality, are fearless in their approach to work, and continuously seek feedback to learn from.
Our teams work in an Agile development environment and we challenging perception and emerging technological landscapes as hugely important to getting it right first time.
We like to use Test-Driven approaches to software engineering to ensure our QA is efficient and effective. We are constantly evolving our technology stack based on what is most efficient in engineering terms to deliver a safe and secure environment for our customers to transact within, whilst delivering an architectural estate that ensures a maintainable and easily deployed environment.
Self-development is really important for us. We see both learning together as a team through the process of delivery and individual learning to build specific skills to able to contribute more to the team, as really important. We will give you the time and tools to do this.
