About the role

We are looking for a driven, ambitious Commercial Planning Analyst to join the Commercial team focusing on the Electricals & Toys categories. This role will report into the Senior Commercial Manager and support the delivery of the category budgets and day to day trade by providing data-driven recommendations to maximise sales and profitability.

You will be able to draw relevant insights from complex internal and external data sets, synthesising information into clear, actionable recommendations to support decision making across the wider category teams. You’ll gain a deep understanding of the commercial drivers within the Electrical and Toys categories and be able to identify the impact of decisions on category P&Ls.

This role is highly dependent on cross-functional working, influencing and challenging the category teams and wider internal and external stakeholders to drive the most profitable results for the business. 

  • Draw commercial insights from complex datasets to enable strategic decision-making with the aim of maximising profitability. 
  • Utilise your deep knowledge of data manipulation to build comprehensive models, reports and dashboards (knowledge of Excel is essential, PowerBI and SQL/Teradata experience is preferred). 
  • Present data in clear, easy to understand formats for senior leaders. 
  • Use the data-driven insights to engage and influence category teams, suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders. 
  • Support the Senior Commercial Manager and Category teams with trading decisions by providing performance insight, scenario planning, promo planning and financial forecasts.  
  • Track, report and unlock opportunities by creating and sharing insights on price, customer and market data to drive profitability.
  • Partner closely with the Trade Planning team to help coordinate a high impact trading calendar by bringing a deep understanding of current commercial performance to maximising sales and margin.
  • Support our promotional reporting by tracking trends against last year, maintaining compliance, and ensuring our forecasts accurately reflect the latest plans and profit goals.

About you

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential, PowerBI and SQL/Teradata experience is preferred with experience handling a variety of data sources. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret results and identify key drivers and trends. 
  • Positive, driven & brings energy to the role. 
  • Comfortable balancing multiple priorities, both short and long-term. 
  • Strong PowerPoint skills, with the ability to synthesise data led insights into clear, easy to understand presentations.

1st stage - An informal 30-45 minute video call with the hiring team to discuss your skills and relevant experience. This is a great opportunity to find out more about the role and to ask any questions you may have.

2nd stage -  A one-hour formal task based interview This will be held in-person at our Speke, Liverpool office.
