About The Role

The Product Manager for Fraud Prevention will be required to lead The Very Group’s Fraud Prevention domain through a vendor replacement initiative.

The Product Manager will own the product strategy, discovery, and delivery roadmap for the fraud prevention capabilities, ensuring we protect customers and the business while enabling frictionless checkout and account experiences.

A key focus will be running the RFI and vendor selection process from a product perspective, defining scope and requirements, and leading the transition to the chosen solution.

Key Objectives

  • Select and implement a Fraud Prevention platform that meets stakeholder requirements and supports scalable growth.
  • Establish a clear product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Fraud Prevention aligned to business OKRs, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

RFI and Vendor Selection

  • Lead the end-to-end RFI process from a product perspective, including problem definition, business outcomes, and success criteria.
  • Co-ordinate and facilitate vendor sessions and demos to enable evaluation of vendor capabilities against key requirements
  • Evaluate vendor responses and evidence against scorecards; run structured comparative assessments in partnership with Procurement, Delivery, Business Stakeholders, Engineering, Architecture and Finance.
  • Document findings and present clear recommendations and trade-offs to senior stakeholders and governance forums for approval.

Product Strategy & Roadmap

  • Define the end-to-end scope of the Fraud Prevention Solution Replacement Initiative
  • Translate business outcomes into measurable product goals and KPIs
  • Contribute to product vision and strategic planning in partnership with the Lead Product Manager to create a product roadmap

Agile Delivery & Execution

  • Act as Product Owner for the Fraud Prevention domain within agile delivery teams
  • Lead discovery to capture, structure, and prioritise features and requirements using a transparent framework (eg MoSCoW, or weighted scoring).
  • Create a phased roadmap from vendor selection through migration and optimisation, including quick wins and strategic improvements.
  • Define epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria; maintain a healthy product backlog; plan and run sprint ceremonies with the delivery team.
  • Partner with Engineering and Architecture on solution design
  • Ensure appropriate non-functional requirements are captured (latency, availability, scalability, monitoring, alerting, security).
  • Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, and sprint reviews for your product area
  • Make day-to-day prioritisation decisions to maximise value delivery

Stakeholder Management and Communication

  • Act as the product voice for Fraud Prevention across the business; manage stakeholders in Credit Risk, Customer Care, CX/UX, Data, Legal, Compliance, Procurement, and Finance.
  • Clearly communicate roadmap progress, trade-offs, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure all Fraud Prevention features meet legal, regulatory, and security standards
  • Partner with risk, compliance, and legal teams to manage regulatory change impacts
  • Support audits, incident reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives

Experience and Skills

Essential

  • Proven experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner in an agile environment
  • Strong understanding of agile product development practices (Scrum, Kanban, or similar)
  • Experience working with financial services or other regulated products
  • Proven ability to translate complex requirements into clear, actionable product backlogs
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Data-driven mindset with experience using analytics to inform decisions
  • Demonstrated leadership of RFI/RFP and vendor selection processes, including scorecarding, PoCs, and executive recommendations.

Desirable

  • Fraud Prevention experience; SCA/orchestration, case management tooling, or consortium data integrations
  • Experience of using tools including Jira, Confluence, MIRO

2nd Stage – A one-hour formal interview where you can expect both competency and technical questions (task based) This can be held either in-person or remotely.
