About the role.
This Senior Commercial Finance Manager will be responsible for business partnering the Financial Services division and its senior management team to deliver in year performance and future/strategic ambitions.
The role is accountable for driving business performance and to improve profitability. A key part of the role will be to support and challenge non-finance stakeholders, providing financial insight and judgement that aids decision making, drives action and helps to improve performance to meet the strategic goals of the Group.
You must be comfortable with working in a fast-paced environment, pivoting across multiple priorities and making quick decisions, sometimes with ambiguous data.
You must role model high standards of integrity, displaying the ability to use your initiative and simplify complex issues into easily digestible information for non-finance stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver action focused financial insight and apply commercial acumen to drive business growth, optimise costs, and support strategic decision-making at the executive level.
- Lead trading discussions with the Financial Services (FS) Commercial Team and Directors, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Provide support and constructive challenge to the non-finance leadership team to enhance decision-making and drive performance.
- Proactively shape your agenda by analysing trading activity to assess its commercial impact on both FS and the wider group, as well as its implications for customers.
- Evaluate new offer testing, pricing strategies, and promotional initiatives to maximise business performance and profitability.
- Prepare accurate and timely budget and forecasting reports, ensuring financial plans are effectively delivered.
- Oversee the identification, management, and mitigation of risks, while capitalising on opportunities to drive success.
- Foster strong relationships across all levels of the organisation to promote open communication within the finance function and achieve collaborative team outcomes.
About you.
- Qualified accountant with minimum 3 years post-qualified experience.
- A self-starter with the confidence to provide opinion and with the ability to develop highly productive stakeholder relationships.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent presentational skills with the ability to prepare material that distils complex issues to the leadership team.
- Able to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and can influence senior stakeholders.
- Able to challenge upwards and cross-functionally.
- Able to galvanise cross functional teams to deliver a shared goal.
- Demonstrable analytical and financial modelling skills.
- SQL experience desirable.
- Possess an abundance of drive to learn and adapt to new ways of working.
- You will seek ways to contribute to wider finance team beyond role scope.
- A strong awareness of what drives end to end value; Trading performance in terms of credit usage; working capital (Cash); end to end profitability; risk/ops; competitors.

2nd stage - A one-hour formal competency based interview. This will be held in-person at our Speke, Liverpool office.
