About the Role

The Senior ePMO Analyst plays a pivotal role in assuring and supporting effective delivery of portfolio outcomes across The Very Group.

Operating at enterprise portfolio level, this role partners closely with Delivery Managers, Portfolio Managers, Senior stakeholders, Finance, People and Strategy to provide a holistic, cross-cutting view of change.

Acting as a critical friend, the Senior ePMO Analyst challenges constructively, supports decision-making, and proactively identifies cross-portfolio risks, dependencies, and delivery constraints.

The role drives consistency, maturity, and value across governance, reporting, and delivery frameworks, elevating performance across multiple portfolios spanning retail and financial services

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Governance and Reporting:

  • Provide insight and assurance for portfolio-level reporting, providing insights into risks, issues, dependencies, and delivery progress for the areas supported
  • Define and refine portfolio governance standards and rhythms, ensuring adherence to agreed methodologies (agile, hybrid, waterfall) and controls across multiple delivery areas.
  • Provide objective delivery assurance through evidence-led health checks, stage gate readiness reviews, and proactive recommendations for course correction.
  • Translate complex portfolio data into clear narratives for senior leadership, highlighting trends, hotspots, trade-offs, and required decisions

Programme Support:

  • Partner with Delivery Managers and Portfolio Managers to shape portfolio plans, prioritisation, and resource strategies that optimise value and manage constraints.
  • Drive integrated dependency and risk management across the portfolio, ensuring linkages are captured, owned, and actively managed across vertical delivery lines.
  • Coordinate and continuously improve portfolio-level reporting cycles, ensuring alignment between enterprise priorities, funding, benefits realisation, and delivery roadmaps.
  • Facilitate and support portfolio forums, decision boards, and cross-portfolio working groups, ensuring actions, outcomes, and accountabilities are clear and tracked.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify and lead opportunities to automate, simplify, and standardise ePMO processes, tooling, and templates to increase efficiency and reduce friction.
  • Champion continuous improvement practices, promoting consistent adoption of best practice and embedding lessons learned across portfolios and programmes.
  • Evolve and maintain the enterprise change framework and playbook, ensuring it supports both agile and hybrid delivery contexts and is understood by stakeholders.
  • Implement and refine portfolio metrics and KPIs (delivery, financial, benefits, capacity) to enable data-driven decision-making.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build trusted relationships with senior leaders, Portfolio Managers, Delivery Managers, Finance, Risk, Strategy, People Team and other control functions, acting as a credible advisor and critical friend.
  • Provide constructive challenge to senior stakeholders, balancing governance and pace to enable outcomes while safeguarding delivery confidence.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to resolve enterprise-wide constraints, ensuring alignment on priorities and trade-offs.
  • Communicate complex information succinctly and diplomatically, tailoring messages to executive and delivery audiences

About you

  • Deep understanding of portfolio, programme, and project management methodologies (agile, hybrid, waterfall) and enterprise portfolio management practices
  • Significant experience in a PMO/ePMO or portfolio management role within a complex, fast-paced corporate environment, ideally retail or financial services
  • Proven ability to operate at portfolio level, synthesising data across multiple programmes to provide actionable insights and strategic recommendations
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with a track record of providing constructive challenge to senior leaders in a supportive, solutions-oriented manner
  • Strong analytical and data storytelling skills; ability to translate complex portfolio data into clear, decision-ready insights
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and strong experience with SharePoint-based governance repositories
  • Proficiency in JIRA (administration and day-to-day use) and associated tooling across agile at scale environments (highly desirable)
  • Experience of resource and capacity management at portfolio level, including demand/supply analysis and scenario planning (highly desirable)
  • Experience with data visualisation and BI tools (e.g., Power BI) to build portfolio dashboards and KPIs (desirable)
