About the role.

We’re looking for a Hair & Make‑up Artist to bring fresh, fashion‑forward creativity to our studio. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll shape the look and feel of our gallery photography, lead on-set styling, and create standout digital content that brings Beauty at Very to life across all our channels.

You’ll combine precision, trend insight, and a strong eye for brand aesthetics to create a consistent, recognisable look that elevates everything we produce.

We are looking for someone to join our team for 2 days a week. Thursday 08:30-16:45 and Friday 08:30-16:15.

What you’ll be doing

  • Deliver on‑trend, high‑quality hair and make‑up looks across all gallery shoots, aligned to category and end use
  • Act as the ‘face’ of Beauty at Very by creating channel‑relevant digital content in partnership with our brand teams
  • Develop a cohesive and consistent “Very” signature style across all shoots
  • Create daily H&M briefs for all models, brief freelance artists, and sign off final looks
  • Work with the wider shoot team to keep the day running smoothly in a fast‑paced environment
  • Give and receive constructive feedback in a positive, professional way
  • Stay ahead of upcoming trends, influencers, TikTok and Instagram content, and competitor activity
  • Attend relevant courses to keep your skills and knowledge sharp
  • Maintain your kit and equipment to the highest standard
  • Partner with the Art Director to help define and evolve Very’s brand identity
  • Keep up-to-date with new models, new faces, and emerging industry talent
  • Spot and develop junior hair and make‑up artists with potential
  • Understand how lighting impacts skin tones and make‑up outcomes during shoots
  • Remain flexible and adaptable to last‑minute changes while maintaining a calm, solutions‑focused approach
  • Maintain excellent personal grooming and hygiene at all times

What you’ll bring

  • Deep knowledge of professional hair and make‑up products, techniques and trends
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced studio or fashion-led environment
  • Strong understanding of digital and social channels, including the type of content that performs
  • Ability to create clear, inspiring briefs and moodboards (experience with design tools preferable)
  • A collaborative mindset and confidence working with photographers, creatives and freelancers
  • A future‑focused approach to beauty and style
  • A portfolio that shows your creativity, versatility and eye for detail
