The opportunity.
We’re looking for a strategic and forward-thinking Head of FP&A to lead our planning and performance agenda, aligning financial insight with The Very Group’s strategic goals. This is a high-impact role focused on three core objectives:
- Integrated Planning: Drive a unified approach to P&L and cash planning, aligning with reporting processes and ensuring one clear planning voice across the business.
- Insight & Challenge: Elevate performance analysis across Finance, delivering actionable insights that support Executive decision-making.
- Innovation & Efficiency: Transform FP&A processes through automation and tooling, freeing up time for deeper analysis and strategic thinking.
About the role.
As a key member of the Finance leadership team, you’ll lead the delivery of budgets, forecasts, and long-term plans, ensuring robust analysis of risks, opportunities, and performance. You’ll build strong relationships across the business, champion continuous improvement, and provide the Executive team with the financial clarity needed to make confident decisions.
You’ll be a visible and inspirational leader, driving team development, cross-functional collaboration, and agile ways of working. Success in this role means influencing at all levels, simplifying complexity, and aligning planning processes with our strategic ambitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of financial plans, forecasts, and five-year strategy
- Provide clear, insightful analysis to support Board-level debate and decision-making.
- Transform planning processes and systems to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Champion best-in-class performance analysis and strategic risk management.
- Develop and mentor a high-performing FP&A team.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships to drive collaboration and outcomes.
- Deputise for the Director of FP&A and Corporate Finance when required.
About you.
- Qualified accountant with 5+ years leading FP&A teams.
- Strong communicator with proven success influencing at Board level.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and tight deadlines, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
- Technically excellent, with the ability to simplify complex financial matters.
- Experience in cash forecasting and transaction services (desirable).
- Inspirational leader with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
- First-class written and presentation skills, with a focus on clarity and impact.

You can expect a two-stage interview process for this position:
1st Stage – A 30-45 minute video call with the hiring team to discuss your skills and relevant experience. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the role and ask any questions you may have.
2nd Stage – A one-hour formal onsite interview where you can expect both competency and technical questions.
3rd Stage – A final formal interview with the Group Finance Director, focusing on strategic alignment, leadership fit, and your potential contribution to the wider finance function.
