About the team
The Commercial team is responsible for commercial planning, business performance and insight across Retail. We work closely with teams across the business to identify opportunities, optimise performance and support better commercial decision-making. It's an exciting time to join as we continue to build new capabilities and shape how Retail plans, measures and improves performance.
About the role
The Senior Commercial Manager is responsible for optimising the commercial performance of our Electrical & Toys business.
Working in partnership with Category, Commercial Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing and DI, the role evaluates trading performance, challenges existing plans and identifies opportunities to improve commercial outcomes through pricing strategy, promotional participation, marketing investment and other commercial levers.
You will be responsible for ensuring the business consistently makes better commercial decisions through high quality planning.
- Evaluating commercial opportunities and recommend the actions that optimise sales, margin and cash.
- Using trading performance, customer insight and market intelligence to develop evidence-based commercial recommendations.
- Challenging plans and assumptions, ensuring commercial decisions are commercially robust and aligned to business objectives.
- Building trusted partnerships across Category, Commercial Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing and Data Intelligence to drive aligned commercial outcomes.
- Owning the commercial performance framework, providing clear visibility of trading performance, risks and opportunities.
- Own the divisional planning process, leading the development of annual budgets, periodic forecasts and commercial plans.
- Develop robust commercial scenarios and recommendations that respond to changing market conditions and business performance
- Leading the divisional trading performance cadence, ensuring timely reporting, forecasting and performance reviews.
- Monitoring delivery against budgets and forecasts, recommending actions to maximise commercial performance.
- Developing team capability through coaching, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Fostering a culture of accountability, innovation and continuous improvement
About you
- Strong commercial planning capability, with the ability to develop robust trading plans, forecasts and strategic priorities.
- Strong analytical and influencing skills, with the ability to translate insight into commercial action.
- Data literate, with a working knowledge of data platforms, querying tools and analytics to support commercial decision-making.
- Demonstrates strategic thinking, with strong commercial and financial acumen.
- Able to distil complex information into clear recommendations, priorities and actionable plans.
- Builds strong cross-functional relationships and influences stakeholders deliver business outcomes.
- Drives a culture of continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to optimise commercial performance and ways of working.

2nd Stage – A one-hour in-person interview where you can expect both competency and technical questions.
