About us.

We’re The Very Group, home to Very.co.uk, Littlewoods.com and a team of 4,000 super-talented people.

We’re the UK’s largest integrated digital retailer and financial services provider, and we’ve been helping customers say yes when it matters most for over 100 years. In that time, we’ve consistently reinvented our business to adapt to economic conditions and industry changes – going from bricks, to clicks, to mobile.

But despite our passion for reinvention, we’ve never wavered from our purpose; to make good things easily accessible to more people. It means giving our customers the brands they love, an outstanding shopping experience and flexible ways to spread the cost.

We’ve continued to deliver for our customers throughout the Covid-19 outbreak – and we’ve done it by transforming the way we work.

We’re fired up for the future and the next stage in our development. We’ll give customers access to more great brands for themselves and their families, a seamless shopping experience and even more control of their finances through innovation in flexible ways to pay.

About the role.

As a Senior Credit Risk Analyst you’ll be joining our Personal Loans project team, helping to build our credit risk strategy for a brand new product line for The Very Group.

Personal Loans is the first product to be delivered as part of The Very Group’s initiative to build new revenue streams and this role will be responsible for building the credit risk strategy and the subsequent day-to-day management of that strategy once launched.

You’ll be building our credit risk and affordability strategy from the ground up, making use of the enormous amount of data The Very Group has access to. This is a unique and challenging role that is fundamental to the growth of the organisation and presents an extremely exciting opportunity for the right person.

Reporting to the Senior FS Manager, you will work in a collaborative cross-functional project team to help us make the right decisions both our customers and our business. Whether it’s helping to shape our lending policy, or optimising our affordability assessment, you’ll be expected to provide customer outcome and commercial insight recommendations, communicating these in a compelling, impactful way to senior stakeholders.

You’ll work on multiple priorities within a fast paced, dynamic environment. You’ll need to be able to manage the expectations of stakeholders alongside prioritising your workload. You will play your part to meet the broader needs of the business and deliver a world class, personalised experience for our customer.

You’ll be surrounded by the best talent across Financial Services and the wider group – working collaboratively to fulfil the ambitions of the business and the Credit Risk Strategy Department.

Critical decisions are made here every day and acted upon immediately – giving you every chance to make a real impact, make decisions and quickly see the results.

About you.

You’re curious, analytical and logical by nature with a keen eye for detail. You have a degree in a numerate discipline, are highly proficient with SQL or SAS with advanced Microsoft Excel skills too. You have a proven record of developing and leading credit risk strategy changes, ideally with experience in the personal loans space.

We’re also interested in your softer skills - your ability to coach and develop other analysts, work with challenging stakeholders along with the ability to solve complex problems and relay solutions in a simple, clear and concise way.

Working at pace with competing and changing priorities doesn’t faze you - you thrive in that type of environment, you’re not afraid to challenge the status quo.

Customer outcome focussed and commercially aware with the ability to present your findings into actionable business recommendations, you’re comfortable in dealing with stakeholders at all levels.

There is very little hierarchy here and if you were to join us, you would be expected to have a voice and the confidence to use it.

The teams here are passionate, innovative and committed. We expect you to be same.
