Strategy Manager
About us.
We are The Very Group and we’re here to help families get more out of life. We know that our customers work hard for their families and have a lot to balance in their busy lives. That’s why we combine amazing brands and products with flexible payment options on Very.co.uk to help them say yes to the things they love. We’re just as passionate about helping our people get more out of life too; building careers with real growth, a sense of purpose, belonging and wellbeing.
About the role.
The Very Group isn’t slowing down. The company is progressing its transformation whilst continuing to deliver sustainable, profitable growth.
The next phase of growth depends on our ability to understand our customers and our environment – what is changing and what is staying the same? What choices are the right ones for our business?
The Strategy Manager will get stuck into these big questions, working with leaders across the business to set our ambition and ensure we deliver on it for our customers.
We love people who push our thinking, put our customers first and have fun along the way – if this sounds like you we can’t wait for you to get in touch!
Key responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of the The Very Group Strategy. This will involve working with business leaders to define our strategic ambition, optimise the allocation of resources against these ambitions and identify how we will measure our performance as we deliver them
- Identify and evaluate new opportunities for The Very Group, working with teams to assess opportunities from a customer, commercial and delivery perspective
- Lead a number of strategy projects where you will be responsible for ensuring that the recommendations represent customer/business/stakeholder need. On some projects you will also be responsible for delivering the identified actions, others you will be responsible for ensuring an effective handover of the initiative to others. These projects by their very nature will be cross functional and complex.
About you.
As Strategy Manager you’ll have a track record of applying your strategic thinking at a senior level in a range of business areas – potentially across the Digital, Retail or Financial Services industries. Proven experience of business strategy development within top-tier consultancy and/or large organisation would be advantageous.
You’ll possess an innate ability to understand, translate and critically appraise a range of different inputs (e.g. research, insight, financials, stakeholders and best practice) to develop conclusions and build strategic recommendations – with the unique ability to balance customer need with commercial focus.
You’ll be comfortable communicating these recommendations and influencing decision making at all levels given your excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills, particularly at a senior level. In addition to this you will be an excellent networker, building mutually beneficial relationships across the business that allow you to gather inputs at pace and with trust when needed.
You’ll excel at leading projects and initiatives as this will be a key part of the role, being comfortable not only shaping initiative development but also translating and driving action – while managing stakeholder expectations throughout. To achieve this you will be resilient, driven and ambitious with a thirst to drive forward The Very Group business and help us achieve our strategic ambitions. A proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and quickly adapt to new areas of focus/inputs is essential as things move quickly here at The Very Group.
